Community Family

What is the Community Family Residence?

The "community card" or community family card can be defined as a residence permit in Spain that family members of a Spanish or EU citizen can apply for.

Specifically, this card is usually granted to spouses, whether they are a common-law partner or married couple; and other direct links such as father / mother or children.

Benefits of having this card

How many people dream of residing in Spain legally! The main advantage of obtaining it through this procedure, as a community family member, is the long period of stay granted.

Having a community card gives you the option of living and working in Spain for 5 years.

Who can apply for this residence permit?

  • Relatives with direct ties: Either in a duly registered domestic partnership or as a matrimonial spouse.
  • Descendants of the first degree: It would be the case of those children who are direct descendants and those of their spouse or registered partner; minors of twenty-one years or older who are dependent or incapable
  • First-degree ascendants: The father or mother of the EU resident citizen, who is dependent on him.
  • Other members of the Family: Those members of their family who accompany or meet with the EU citizen, proving that they are in their care, whether it is a partner with whom they maintain a duly proven relationship or who have had a time of previous coexistence. Also those that require your personal care, for serious health or disability reasons.

Required Requirements

  • Properly accredit the bond that binds us to the community or Spanish citizen.
  • Reside in the same address as said relative.
  • The non-EU citizen must accompany the EU citizen in Spain and live in the country for at least 12 months.
  • Demonstrate that sufficient financial means are available to support the family nucleus in the event of not working.
  • In certain situations, we must prove that we depend on the Spanish community citizen, claiming to be in their charge , that is, that we do not have our own financial resources.
  • Have health insurance (public or private) with coverage in Spain.
